My provider performed an update of my site. After the update the database access didn’t work anymore. Instead of fixing it I decided to take the opportunity and switch to a new engine. I wanted to change the technology of this site anyway and this was just the push to begin with it!
So I have chosen a static site generator called Octopress . No PHP and no database anymore. No server side code, only static files. But you still get dynamic behaviour with external services. For example the comments will be powered by Disqus.
The only dynamic behaviour will be the reaction to status code 404. I want to keep track when someone tries to access pages from the old structure and want to provide some redirections/shoehorning into the new structure.
At the moment I am just at the beginning, so stay tuned!
